Clothing is a basic need of humans. We often purchase new clothes on the onset of any occasion, social event or even for no reason only to make our closet pleasant. However, there are people, who cannot afford to buy new dresses for their children even for an occasion. Those children are deprived as their guardians do not have sufficient income for subsistence living.
The special occasion becomes more special when we can create a cause for making a person smile. When we have abundant clothes, sharing with other people will not make any difference for us. Nevertheless, this sharing can make a difference in someone’s life. Celebration multiplies when we celebrate together.
Our Past Activities
There is a rule of thumb when we think of donating clothes to others. As we cannot gift dirty, old, torn clothes to our family members and friends, we should not gift them to others too only because they live in a destitute condition. Hence, Sharadi Foundation is very mindful in collecting clean, usable clothes having no tatter from the donors.
2020
Our first clothing distribution was started during the festive season in the month of October 2020 from Central Avenue. We provided one new cloth along with one old cloth to the children living on the pavement.
In West Bengal, the winter season is becoming colder every year and it is painful to see poor people suffering from it. In November 2020, Sharadi Foundation distributed woollen clothes from Central Avenue. This year, another programme of warm blanket distribution among the poor people is undertaken. We are hopeful that we will be able to help some people to fight against the cold and stay protected this year.
2021
The team has distributed new clothes among villagers of a Yaash affected village in East Medinipur in the month of June 2021. Due to the covid pandemic situation, old garments distribution was not a viable option. Thus, we opted to collect and distribute new clothing to the villagers.
In October 2021, new clothes have been distributed from the Bally centre of our Foundation before the Durga Puja festival. Needy people wilfully came and collected new and old dresses for their children. They chose clothes of their own choice.
The great initiative continues, at the beginning of the Winter, team Sharadi have distributed warm blankets to the people sleeping in the footpath on November 2021. Spreading the warmth, spreading love and happiness Sharadi continues to grow bigger and wider.
